
Kanat Umbetov (Қанат Үмбетов) is a Kazakh pop singer known for his lyrical Kazakh-language songs. An economist by education, he has no formal musical training, but his natural vocal ability and emotional delivery helped him carve out a place on the Kazakhstani stage. He is recognized as a Pop and Indie Pop musician from Kazakhstan.
His professional career began in 2010. In 2010 he met the well-known singer Toktar Serikov, who brought him to Almaty and introduced him to the big stage. Before that he had performed in the "Zhaidarman" comedy league and worked as a toastmaster. He later became Serikov's protégé, and the two recorded the popular duet "Qairan zhastyq."
A defining part of Umbetov's career is his long-running duet collaboration with singer Aliya Abiken. Their joint songs — including "Senemin sagan," "Kelem deshi," "Sagyndym seni," and "Zhanym" — have attracted millions of views online. His solo repertoire includes "Zhurektesin," "Shamshyragym," "Mazalamaiyn," "Zhaurady zhanym," and "Sezimdi qaitein."
Umbetov is married and a father of two. He started a family young, marrying in 2007 at the age of 19, and his son was born in 2008. He continues to be active in the Kazakh pop scene today.
