Meyrambek Besbaev

Meirambek Abilyashimovich Besbaev (also spelled Bespaev) is a Kazakhstani singer, drummer, and a member of the popular group MuzART. He was born on November 7, 1976, in Taraz, Jambyl Region, in the family of lawyer Abilyashim Besbaev and teacher Zhibek Zholdasova. He has two sisters, Ainur and Gulnur.

His love for music emerged in early childhood. At age 14, Meirambek moved to Almaty and enrolled in the K. Baiseitova Music School, later graduating from the acting faculty of the T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts. He gained early fame through the song "Boztorgai", taught to him by renowned singer and composer Altynbek Korazbaev.

In April 2001, together with Kenzhebek Zhanabilov and Saken Maigaziev, he founded the pop group MuzART, which quickly became one of the most popular ensembles in Kazakhstan. The group performs both folk and pop songs and has toured extensively in Kazakhstan, China, and Russia. Besbaev also starred in the musical comedies "Cocktail for a Star" (2010) and its sequel (2011).

Meirambek Besbaev has been awarded the honorary title of "Honored Worker of Kazakhstan", the orders of "Kurmet" and "Parasat", and is a laureate of the "Daryn" State Youth Prize. Since autumn 2019, he has served as a freelance advisor to the Mayor of Almaty on cultural affairs. He is married to interior designer Marhabat Besbaeva and has three children.
